I have been thinking about using your alternate ads program, but I am wondering whether or not I can run it on different sites with different traffic patterns, traffic source locations, niche's, etc.
I am wondering if Alternate ads would be good for me. Google ads were able to meet all of my needs regarding the above (hence the reason I use them) but I am wondering if alternate ads would be just as useful.

Similar to Google AdSense, Alternate URL Ads (AUA) automatically identifies the content of your web pages and serves contextually relevant ads so feel free to place it anywhere.
I'd recommend using AUA in combination with Google AdSense. By doing so you can replace non-paying Google PSAs with paying AUA ads and maximize your revenues.
